Mcdonalds Abroad.. Gluten Free options in Madeira makes it better by far!

Jaydee the Coeliac Explorer

During a little holiday over in Madeira, walking through the centre we saw a Mcdonalds and me being me thought "oooo I'll have some fries to tide me over!" (even abroad, how rude of me).

At one of those self order machines, scanning down the side of the categories looking for "fries and sides" scrolling past the vegan/vegetarian option which always seems to be a priority over GF... was when I spotted those unexpected magical words... "Gluten Free"

I couldn't believe it?!? I looked at my partner with excitement whilst also looking for confirmation that I wasn't imagining it. Especially when I clicked on it and saw Gluten Free Big Mac Meal. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT'S BEEN SINCE IVE HAD A BIC MAC?!?! I know what you're thinking...I'm being a little dramatic, but for my fellow GF people, you'll probably know what it's like. Especially those of you who got diagnosed later in life and had to say goodbye to old foods we use to enjoy so much.

Excited was an understatement, and let me tell you...it was sooooo good. All of it! Makes me very frustrated why they don't do it here in England, but at the same time it's probably best they don't so I don't eat it so much!

Point is - if you go to Madeira and fancy something quick, know that their Mcdonalds has GF options and they're actually great.
