Where to even start?! I've fallen in love with this little country pub located in Towton, Tadcaster. Me and my boyfriend recently moved to Tadcaster and wanted to go out for food so as always, we were scrolling online trying to find somewhere that even mentions gluten free options. The Rockingham Arms popped up and we saw on their menu that they cater for gluten free so we thought we'd give it a go!
As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is great. It's cosy, with a little fire going in the corner of the room. There's quiet music going on in the background. It's dog-friendly (which is always a bonus!). The staff are absolutely lovely and very welcoming. The prices are pretty great too for how good the food is!
Back to the food - so I was SHOOK to see that 90% of the food on their menu can be made to be gluten free. I ordered the "Mignons of pork fillet" without even really knowing what it was to be honest. It was absolutely delicious and I was so full that sadly I didn't have space for dessert (which by the way...they have a good amount of gluten free dessert options too...including GF vanilla cheesecake!?). I enjoyed it so much that I decided I wanted to go back here for my birthday.
My boyfriend booked us a table and had given them a good review, stating how I was so impressed with their GF options I'm coming back for my birthday. We got there and not only had they put up a birthday banner and balloons by our table without being asked to do so, they also came out at the end of our meal with a little bowl of GF ice cream and a candle singing happy birthday! (although I'm extremely awkward with people singing happy birthday to me, it was very sweet of them to do) My boyfriend was just as shocked as me.
I ordered the "Surf & Turf" which was by far, one of the tastiest meals I have eaten out in a while. The steak was cooked perfectly, the prawns were insanely good, and I honestly have no complaints.
(Not exactly relevant but they also have books out on a shelf near the fire if you fancy just going in to have a coffee and a read..........and maybe a tasty GF dessert!)
Next time you're near Tadcaster, I'd 100% recommend here for food!
